Giants in the electronics industry have joined forces to develop a new type of Wireless HD. Cooperations in the joint effort include, Sony, Motorola, Samsung, Amimom, Hitachi and Sharp. They plan to complete the new standard by 2009 and deployment will begin immediately it is finalized. WHDI the proposed name for the new standard will be capable of delivering 3Gbps bandwith in a 40Mhz channel of the 5Ghz band and its performance is supposed to be unaffected by walls and other barriers.
